Tanzania - Areas of Interest

Between africans highest mountain (KIlimanjaro) and africans largest lake (Victoria) lies one of the best game viewing areas on the continent. These regions also include the worlds largest and unflooded intact volcatic caldera (Ngorongoro) and the most famous wildlife park (The Serengeti). There is great chimpanzee trekking at Mahale in the west and to the south east lies one of the worlds largest game reserve, The Selous. Volcanic highlands domminate the north, giving way southwards to plateau, then semi desert in the centre of the country and highlands in the south. The coast lowlands are hot and humid with lush vegetation. One branch of the great rift valley passes through Lake natron and Lake Manyara in northern Tanzania, to lake Malawi(Lake nyasa). The other brach passes through Lake Lukwa and Lake Tanganyika in the west.
